Week 13

This week's VVHS tiger spotlight goes out to Mr. Epifanio Mora who does an exceptional job daily with actively engaging his Pre-Calculus, Calculus and MMA students with the mathematical learning concepts. He utilizes various teaching strategies to challenge his students by connecting covered material with real-world applications. This allows him to meet the needs of his students and maximize their instructional time. Mr. Mora also works closely with staff and administration to meet the goals we have for our students in order to ensure our students are well prepared. His professionalism attitude, commitment and sincere love for education are evident daily. Mr. Mora's work ethic is exceptional. Keep up the great work!

Week 12

This week's VVHS tiger spotlight goes out to Martha Andaverdi and Antonio De La Rosa who are doing an amazing job assisting our campus with EOC State testing, benchmark exams and school-related events aside from their daily teaching responsibilities. Both of them have assisted with ensuring testing logistics, testing preparation, and any other testing job duties to run efficiently. Mrs. Andaverdi and Mr. De La Rosa are always ready to assist with the many school-related events taking place at the high school. Even with these extra responsibilities, they stay on top of having their classroom students engaged in the learning process. Their positive impact to our campus and our students exemplify their "One Team, One Dream" determination to succeed with everything they do. Keep up the great work!!

Week 10

This week Valley View high school tiger spotlight goes out to Mr. Omar Ochoa for setting high expectations with his students’ learning outcome. He integrates content related and community-based projects within his curriculum. Just recently, his students took part in a project learning activity based on the novel “The Glass Castle”. His students created service campaigns around our campus to gather canned food, clothing, and other items for those in need in our community. His instructional teaching style is making a huge impact on how our students view learning and the need to assist others who are less fortunate. For his commitment and dedication to his students’ learning outcome, Mr. Omar Ochoa is deserving of this week's Tiger Spotlight. Keep up the great work!

Week 9

This week's Valley View High School tiger spotlight goes out to Mr. David De Leon who has been doing an outstanding job with our students, parents and the Spanish Medical Minor program. Just recently, Mr. De Leon was recognized by the Texas Foreign Language Association along with our partnering local clinic, Rio Health Medical, for the success of our Spanish program. Aside from this, Mr. De Leon has been working closely with students and parents to increase our success in the statewide accountability system. Mr. De Leon takes a proactive approach to address important information necessary for parents to know so their son/daughter are successful with dual enrollment classes, AP classes and any other areas which will assist them. He covers with them a great variety of topics dealing with college requirements for his classes, attendance, discipline, parental support, etc... Mr. David De Leon thank you for your commitment to One Team, One Dream. Keep up the great work!

Week 8

The Tiger Spotlight shines on Mr. Jesus Garza. Mr. Garza has honored our district with 15 years of service. He at times goes without eating during the day to deal with the day to the day issues at the high school. He never complains and makes do with what he has. The high school received all the campus distinctions designated by the state. Nine of the sixteen indicators for the district Post Secondary Readiness distinction came from the high school which was a critical component in the district receiving this distinction. This week's Tiger spotlight goes out to our head custodian, Mr. Mario Martinez, who is a dedicated individual with everything he does for our campus. Mr. Martinez stays on top of what needs to be done daily and makes himself readily available with anything needed. His professionalism and positive attitude exemplify One Team One Dream attitude. Week 6

This week’s Tiger Spotlight shines on Mr. Randy Perez. Mr. Perez mentored a group of students that competed in the HESTEC Robotics Competition hosted by UTRGV. His group was among 44 teams that competed in four different challenges. Mr. Perez’ group won 1st Place in two of the challenges and 1st Place overall! This was a huge accomplishment for him and his students. Additionally, Mr. Perez offered his support to our newly formed GEMS (Girls in Engineering, Math, and Science), a group sponsored by Ms. Rocio Garcia and Ms. Sandra Weaver. Competing for the first time, the GEMS placed 5th. We are very proud of all them and truly appreciate the extra time and guidance Mr. Perez gives all our students. He exemplifies the belief in One Team, One Dream. Thank you Mr. Perez for your commitment to our students. Keep up the great work!

Week 5

This week's Tiger Spotlight goes out to our two attendance clerks, Ms. Herlinda Cirlos and Ms. Nora Romo. These two ladies continuously communicate with parents, monitor student attendance, and provide administration and teachers vital information that helps our entire school run even more smoothly. Additionally, thanks to their tireless efforts, we were able to gather 100% of our Income Surveys. That was a massive task in itself! Additionally, Ms. Cirlos and Ms. Romo continue to work closely with our new to the district students and parents by making sure required documentation is collected and the entire experience runs smoothly. Thank you, ladies, for your continued support for our students and our Valley View High School community as a whole. Your Tiger Spirit shines through! Keep up the great work!

This week VVHS tiger spotlight goes out to Mrs. Gloria Garcia, our College Prep/College Readiness teacher. Mrs. Garcia not only instills a passion for learning, but she spends a lot of her own resources and time to assist with decorating and creating an environment that promotes Valley View Tigers. She comes in after-school hours to showcase students love for reading and brings with her an extensive list of innovative ideas that create a culture of TIGER PRIDE. She is the true embodiment of the TIGER SPIRIT! Keep up the great work!
